Divisions

NLCBS is comprised of several divisions; each a building block for the next. Players are placed mostly by grade level/ equivalent schooling level. We do allow parents to self-select what division they feel is most appropriate. Players are allowed to "play up" a level based on skill level and experience. Players are not allowed to play in a younger division. Please visit each division's specific page for details; suggested skill level, dates and meeting times.

Step 1 & Step 2 (Tee Ball) is primarily for 4 and 5 years old.

Two levels are offered:

Step 1/Entering Preschool for those just getting started and

Step 2/Entering Kindergarten for players that have a small amount of experience.

Parents can self-assess their player to determine if preschool or kindergarten tee ball is appropriate.

Step 3 (coach pitch baseball/softball) is primarily for those entering 1st grade next year.  In this league players will learn to more fundamentals of baseball including hitting from a coach-pitched ball. Players will expand their defensive skill base, hitting fundamentals and team play.

Step 4 (Transitional Baseball/ Softball) (turning 8 & 9 years of age) is for those entering 2nd and 3rd grade for the next school year. Third graders will be allowed to pitch during the last four weeks of the season.

Step 5 Baseball & Softball (player pitch/ no walks) primarily for those entering 4th and 5th grade.

Players will be introduced to a higher level of baseball. Rules are set up to allow for more realistic play while still allowing for an instructional game.

Step 6 Senior Baseball/ Softball (11,12 years of age) is primarily for advanced 5th and those entering 6th & 7th grades of the next school year.  Players are allowed to pitch two innings per game.  No player shall sit out more than 2 innings per game except in case of injury.

Union Baseball/ Softball NLCBS' answer to travel ball; Union Baseball/ Softball, the not-so-club, club-team.

Comprised of select NLCBS players. Players compete in 3-4 local tourneys; Iowa City, Tiffin and right here in North Liberty.

We are seeking to grow this initiative, we're limited only by the number of coaches willing to take on a team. Teams will be formed based upon USSSA's age guidelines. Players must also compete in our standard weeknight program meeting on Mondays or Thursdays (division dependent).
